About O/L Mathematics: O/L Mathematics covers number systems, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and statistics across Grade 10 and 11.

The surface area of a solid is the total area of all its external faces or surfaces. For three-dimensional objects, we measure the total area that would be covered if the solid were "unfolded" or "flattened" into a net. This concept is essential in real-life applications such as painting, wrapping, constructing containers, and material estimation. In Grade 11, we focus on the surface area of right prisms, cylinders, pyramids, cones, and spheres. A right prism has two identical parallel bases (top and bottom) and rectangular lateral faces. A cylinder has two circular bases and a curved lateral surface. A pyramid has a polygonal base and triangular lateral faces meeting at a vertex. A cone has a circular base and a curved lateral surface tapering to a vertex. A sphere is a perfectly round solid with no edges or vertices.
