A. Electrostatic Potential
Definition: The electrostatic potential at a point in an electric field is defined as the work done in bringing a unit positive charge from infinity to that point without acceleration. Explanation: Electrostatic potential is a scalar quantity that represents the electric potential energy per unit charge at a specific point in an electric field. It measures how much work would be required to bring a positive test charge from an infinite distance (where potential is zero) to that particular point. The potential is positive if work is done against the electric field, and negative if work is done by the field. This concept helps us understand how charges interact with electric fields and how energy is stored in electrostatic systems. Think of it as: Think of electrostatic potential like gravitational potential - just as a ball at a height has gravitational potential energy, a charge at a point in an electric field has electrostatic potential energy. The potential tells us how much 'electric height' the charge has.
